Frequently Asked Questions

When you arrive for your initial appointment, you will be asked to complete a client intake form which has general health questions because there are some conditions for which manual therapy, massage and/or personal training is not appropriate, or may require physician's approval and careful consideration. We will then discuss the results you're hoping to achieve.

What are the benefits of manual therapy/bodywork?

Manual therapy promotes the release of chronic muscle tension and pain, improved circulation, increased joint flexibility, reduced mental and physical fatigue and stress, reduced anxiety, the facilitation of healing of injured muscle tissue, and an overall sense of well-being. The therapist uses a variety of massage techniques, strokes, application of pressure on specific points, posture and movement re-education, and more. See information on "Services" page for some specific massage techniques. We can discuss and customize the methods appropriate for your treatment approach.

Can I request that my therapist work on specific regions?
Absolutely!  The purpose of a manual therapy session is to make you feel better. The therapist will ask what you would like to work on at the beginning of the session.  The therapist may suggest that some session time be spent on regions related to your complaint, but ultimately will focus on the areas identified as most problematic.

Will privacy and professionalism be maintained?

You will be appropriately covered during the entire session. In every aspect, modesty and comfort level are respected at all times.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage/bodywork inadvisable?
Yes.  It is very important that you inform the therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are currently under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

How much does it cost?
Prices are based on the length of the session.  See "Services & Rates" page for specific rates.
